Resting his feet on the windowsill Jason Kendrick sat silent in his father's office with his back to the door. Hearing the office door open, he opens his eyes but does not stand up to acknowledge the guest.
"I knew I'd find you here." said a female voice.
"Are all of Dad's friends gone?" Jason asked softly.
"Everyone is gone but James Kyoko." was the reply.
"Could you send James in here?" James asked.
"Sure. Is there anything else you need before I go home?"
"You can stay here and help me run Dad's business."
"Jase, I can't do that." was the reply.
Turning around in the chair Jason faces his mother and says, "You have every right to be here."
"Baby, I'm married to another man." said his mother with a sigh.
"You mean Randy?" Jason said sarcastically.
"Yes, Randy."
"The only reason why Randy jumped on you after the divorce was he knew you were easy prey with a fat wallet."
"How can you say that?"
"Mrs. Kendrick, Jason isn't wrong." said another voice.
Both Jason and his mother look up to find James Kyoko standing in the doorway of the office. James Kyoko walks into the office closing the door behind him. He walks across the office and sits down in the chair across from Jason looking up into the eyes of Jason's mother.
"Is there something you two want to tell me?" asked Jason's mother.
"At the request of your husband Micheal before he died, I did a background check on your new husband Randy Everton. I'm sorry to say that what I discovered will break your heart." answered James.
